No, I don’t drink the stuff but, I have found uses for it and it doesn’t have to be the expensive kind.

1. Put some vodka in a spray bottle to use against insects as a repellant.

2. If you don’t like to do laundry very often, you can keep your clothes smelling fresher without having to wash them often by using vodka. Spray your clothes with vodka and then hang them to dry in a well ventilated area. This works because vodka destroys bacteria that causes odor, and does this without leaving behind a scent.

3. Moisten a soft cloth with vodka to use for cleaning porcelain, chrome, and glass.

4. Pour a few drops of vodka and a teaspoon of sugar to the water in a flower vase to keep the flowers fresher for a longer period of time. Change out the mixture daily to keep the flowers lasting even longer.



5. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth

dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass and kills germs.

6. Vodka can be used  to sooth a jellyfish sting. Pour vodka on a fresh sting to disinfect and alleviate the pain from the sting.

7. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.

8. Cat urine smell from carpet. Put vodka in a spray bottle and soak the carpeted area. Cover with aluminum foil to prevent the cat from using the area and let dry. Repeat as often as needed until smell is gone. Replace the aluminum foil to prevent the use of the area again.

9.  These days everyone seems to have bigger and bigger LED or LCD television screens which are better and brighter to look at, but much harder to keep clean. Water-based cleaners will leave spots and streaks, harsher chemicals may etch the plastic. Try a little cheap vodka on a very soft cloth instead, it’s perfect for cleaning dust and fingerprints or my case nose prints from our dog Shadow, without damaging the fragile surface.

10. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves the adhesive.

11.  Poison ivy/oak/sumac. The Myth Busters on the Discovery Channel “Busted” this. Myth Busters or not it has been effective. It is the oil of the poison ivy that binds with the protein of your skin and makes it blister. Alcohol is a solvent that will wash away oil. You must wash all the oils off your clothes and skin. The period of time that you have in order to safety wash depends on the person. 30 minutes is a relatively safe time. The oil will stay in contact with for a long time ( weeks/years ). So if you don’t wash  your tools, clothes, gloves or anything else that has the oil on it you will reinfect yourself. Poison ivy does not spread by skin blisters contary  to popular belief. The spread comes from people not washing everything that touched the plants and then they go back the next day and handle it again. Vodka is effective as any solvent that will break down oils.

12. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores.

13. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger  spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them.

14. Vodka can help make your hair healthier and shinier by adding a shot and a half of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo.

15. To help clean up mold, fill a spray bottle with vodka. Spray vodka on the mold and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Scrub the mold away with an old toothbrush.
