Did you know that after each use your toilet brush should be cleaned and sanitized? It is important to let the toilet brush dry.
The toilet brush and holder should be cleaned and sanitized after each use if the brush isn’t allowed to dry thoroughly. If the toilet brush is allowed to dry then a monthly cleaning is all that is needed. A suggestion is after each use, close the toilet seat onto the brush and let it dry a bit while cleaning the rest of the bathroom.
Hydrogen Peroxide was discovered in 1818 by the French chemist Louis Jacques Thénard (1777–1857). It was first used commercially in the 1800 to bleach hats.
Hydrogen Peroxide is recognized by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to CDC, hydrogen peroxide can be used against bacteria, viruses, fungi, spores and yeast.
How do I mix hydrogen peroxide for disinfecting?
In a spray bottle mix 50/50 water and peroxide, optional to add essential oils or lemon juice. Spray on the surfaces to be disinfected and let sit for 5 minutes.
Cleaning the toilet brush and holder with this spray solution makes it easy.
After cleaning the toilet bowl with the brush. Hold the brush over the bowl. Spray down all the bristles with the mixture and swipe the brush handle with the peroxide. Close the toilet seat down on the brush and let it sit for 5 minutes. Spray the solution onto the holder and swipe down. Once the 5 minutes is up, flush the toilet and dip the brush into the water. Let the brush dry out before putting it back into the clean holder.
Keep this solution handy for cleaning other surfaces that are touched often.
